Ormand Beach Professional Review and Guide
"Ormand Beach is a 865-acre undeveloped beach in Oxnard that is off the beaten track. The beach stretches nearly 5 miles, from Port Hueneme Beach Park to Point Mugu Naval Air Station. It is backed by acres of farmland and has an extensive dune structure. The beach also includes a salt marsh wetland preserve, mudflats, and a freshwater lagoon fed by ground water and agricultural runoff. The preserve is on the Pacific Flyway, a 2,000-mile migratory route providing habitat for birds between Alaska and Latin America. The wetlands are also a nesting ground for the endangered western snowy plover, California least tern, and the California brown pelican. The coastal walk explores the dunes and coastal wetlands, following water channels parallel to the ocean."
