Emerald Ridge Loop Professional Review and Guide
"For hikers looking for more of a challenge than the out-and-back, 1.3-mile Tall Trees Grove Trail and who still want to enjoy this magnificent redwood sanctuary, the Emerald Ridge Loop should fill the bill quite nicely. Almost immediately, the route veers away from the much more popular Tall Trees Grove Trail. After a solitude-filled descent on the Emerald Ridge Trail, the route follows Redwood Creek downstream via gravel bars and several fords, enters the Tall Trees Grove, and finally climbs back up to the trailhead via the Tall Trees Grove Trail. The 5-mile circuit samples several different habitats, including shady upland redwood forest below the trailheads, a bright and sunny riparian zone along Redwood Creek, and stately old-growth lowland redwoods in the Tall Trees Grove."
