Walkers, joggers and people with strollers are creating a hazard on the bike path portion of this trail, in Albany. One bicycling child, trying to get to school via the bike path, ended up on crutches for a week, trying to avoid a mother with a stroller (who didnʻt stop to help after causing this collision). Hikers, walkers and joggers should make sure they are using the pedestrian path whenever there is one.

This is a very urban trail with trains, cafes, gardens, art, murals and restoration projects. It is also full of commuters during peak hours, and dogs, skaters, cyclists and strollers all the time. Be sure to catch the Elk tracks to Railroad tracks mural near the Bart tracks and Gilman Street. This is a good rainy day hike, since it is paved and you can hop off for latte's at Gilman St.
