Miami Trail

Miami Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Miami Trail travels a circuitous route through the northwestern corner of Sierra National Forest along a road suitable for 4WD vehicles as well as ATVs and motorbikes. The trail starts on California 41, south of Fish Camp, at the Mariposa-Madera County line. The first part of the trail is an all-weather surface of loose gravel to facilitate access to more than 60 miles of motorbike trails in the Miami Motorcycle Trails Area. There are many small trails in this vicinity; only marked ones are mentioned in the route directions. All trails within the Miami Motorcycle Trails Area are suitable for motorbikes only unless signposted otherwise. These trails have a width limit of 40 inches, which precludes 4WD vehicles. However, forest roads open to all vehicles also run through the area.

Special Attractions: Miami Motorcycle Trails Area; Signal Peak Fire Lookout; Long easy trail with panoramic views over a variety of landscapes. High-clearance 4WDs are preferred, but any high-clearance vehicle is acceptable. Expect a rough road surface; mud and sand are possible but will be easily passable. You may encounter rocks up to 6 inches in diameter, a loose road surface, and shelf roads, though these will be wide enough for passing or will have adequate pull-offs."
