Coyote Hills Regional Park

Newark, California

Coyote Hills Regional Park Professional Review and Guide

"There are a number of parks perched on the shores of San Francisco Bay, but Coyote Hills is the whole enchilada: excellent wildlife viewing, extensive facilities, and trails that explore not only marsh and coastline, but grassland as well. You can choose a very easy hike through Coyote Hill’s marsh, or stretch your legs a bit on a few short but steep paths that rollercoaster up and down grassy hills fronting the bay. This 5-mile loop does both, starting in the marsh and then traversing the hills."

First time climbing this peak this year. The trail is simply a steep fireroad that rises briskyly with fantastic views of the south bay. Due to the long wet winter in 05-06, the hillsides are greener than ever! The cows don't mind sharing the trail with you and the whole mountain make you want to start singing the hills are alive...
