Historic Adobes Professional Review and Guide

"In 1846, Pio Pico, governor of California, granted the 48,000-acre Santa Rosa Rancho to Juan Moreno. Moreno built a ranch where he and his family grazed cattle. The small Moreno adobe is the oldest building in Riverside County, and the large Machado adobe, built later around 1855, is the second oldest. This hike visits the restored ranch, passing by way of the vernal pool and a shady creek. It is ideal in the spring, when the pool is full and the wildflowers are in bloom."
