Sawmill Trail

Sawmill Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"From the Sawmill Trail parking area walk east along a dirt road, staying right at an immediate fork. In 0.2 mile at a signed junction with the Cactus Spring Trail, stay right on the Sawmill Rd. (7S01). Follow this road for 5.4 miles as it switchbacks unforgivingly up a chaparral-covered ridge."

"The Sawmill Trail ascends the north face of the Santa Rosas. It provides excellent views of the northern Santa Rosas, San Jacinto, and the desert from Palm Springs southward. It starts in the desert and ends in the high mountains, so hike in the spring or fall, when it’s cool at the trailhead but the Santa Rosa Mountain Road is clear of snow." Read more

A long, long lung buster......Climb, climb and climb some more. When you get to the top take a nice break along the pine trees by an old big fireplace. Then leave the beautiful pines and bomb down at unhuman speeds fying over rough terrain and rocks to the desert below....A fast ride.
