Seven Lakes Basin

Seven Lakes Basin Professional Review and Guide

"The journey to the Seven Lakes Basin is one of the classic hikes in the Mount Shasta area. Traveling south on the Pacific Crest Trail, there unfolds plentiful and spectacular views of the Trinity Alps to the west and Mount Shasta to the east. Leave the PCT above the beautiful Seven Lakes Basin and follow the easy trail to Lake Helen for a shorter destination.

A road continues into the basin and accesses Upper and Lower Seven Lakes, which are beautiful, cliff-lined, alpine treasures. Hikers looking to explore seldom-traveled country can try to reach awesome Echo Lake, lying at the foot of the 1,000-foot vertical north face of Boulder Peak."

"Mount Shasta to the left, the Trinity Alps to the right—it doesn’t get any better than this. This hike gives you the best of the Klamath Mountains with little effort. You’ll have 360-degree panoramas of far Northern California mountains, cool and clear mountain lakes to dip into, a varied palette of wildflowers, and several excellent campsites if you decide to do an overnighter."
