Castle Lake Trail to Mount Bradley Lookout Professional Review and Guide
"This trip is one of extremes. Beautiful Castle Lake, at the beginning of the trip, draws hordes of fervent worshippers who drive the paved road every summer day to boat, fish, or swim in the water, or camp and picnic around the shoreline. Mt. Bradley, at the end of the trip, is a lonesome spot; only a relative few make the journey all the way to the old lookout near the summit. In between are two attractive lakes, scenic Heart Lake perched below Castle Lake’s dramatic headwall, and pastoral Little Castle Lake occupying a meadow-filled flat near the head of Ney Springs Creek. The long ridge route leading to the lookout beyond the lakes is blessed with nearly constant, extremely stunning views that take in a wide portion of northern California, culminating in the jaw-dropping vista from the old lookout."
