Pacific Crest Trail—Laguna Mountain Ridge Professional Review and Guide
"Head north along this section of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) and follow a wonderful path that perfectly hugs the northerly vestiges of the Laguna Mountains. The route enters Anza-Borrego Desert State Park almost immediately, as noted by signs directing hikers to follow all rules and regulations of the state park system. From very near the trail’s outset, spectacular views of the region open up. The way follows along the mountainside close to the roadway, though separated by enough distance and a hillside as to make the sounds of automobiles inaudible. For the entire length of the trip, the contour of the mountain slides down to the east into the lower reaches of the Anza-Borrego Desert. “Beautiful” is an understatement for this area’s raw aesthetic simplicity. Indeed, this is a perfect place to take someone unfamiliar with the higher reaches of the desert and share its immaculate allure."
