Laguna Campground

Laguna Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Laguna Campground offers some of the best camping in Southern California and the cheekiest ground squirrels and jays in the West. Hardly had my wife and I arrived at an incredible campsite on the edge of a yellow-flowered meadow stretching away to islands of pine against a cerulean blue sky, when a larcenous Stellar’s jay swooped down on the picnic table and tried to take off with a particularly shiny spoon.

Next, the California ground squirrels moved in for a package of corn chips on top of the cooler. I stomped my feet and threw gravel. They scurried a few feet away, rolled defiantly in the dust, and rose to attack the corn chips again. Then, I heard a shrill shriek, and the varmints scattered at the sight of a red-tailed hawk circling above. Maintained by the Laguna Mountain Volunteer Association, Laguna Campground is clean and well run. There’s a feeling of serenity and order. The little community of Laguna, with its stores, churches, fire department, restaurants, and rental cabins, reflects the pride of its residents. This is a very special place."
