Indian Creek Loop Trail

Indian Creek Loop Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Here’s a nice way to fit a scenic segment of the Pacific Crest Trail into a loop hike. You’ll sample a variety of appealing environments—shady woodland, spice-scented chaparral, and sage-dotted meadow—plus enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the desert from the rim of the Laguna Mountain escarpment."

8/15/2005 has been informed that the driving directions for this trail can be shortened: Direction should read I-8 to Sunrise Hwy, exit, go North up hill to mile marker 29.5
Don''t need to go into Cuyamaca which is where 79 takes you.

I do this a bit differently, but it still rocks. From the bottom parking lot at the base of Noble, we ride up the paved road approx. 4 miles to where a dirt road proceeds north, and the pavement heads up to the top of Noble. Go down the dirt road into the canyon, and just past the little cabins will be a slightly noticeable trailhead. That is the bottom of Indian Creek. Climb this all the way up, enjoying westward views of Cuyamaca and the valley below. Rarely if ever do I see another soul on this trail, and it is great, It can get nasty and rocky, but it sho' is fun. Once to the top, you descend to the paved road you started on, only now you are at the top of the hill! Cross the road and descend back to the car on Noble Canyon trail!! Give all the ugly stuff a shot, I can clean it all on my hard tail, and I'm just a sport dh and xc weenie racer. You will end up back at the parking lot tired, a little bloody, kinda' smelly, a bit itchy, and really hungry. There is a market back in town (5 minutes) that has an amazing deli, so don't go home hungry!!

I ride this trail differently than the description given. I usually start on the
Big Laguna Trail with its fun rolling singletrack, go to the Noble Canyon Trail that used to be good
until too many full face helmet downhill idiots began shuttling it, descend the Indian Creek trail to
the creek, cross it and climb to the junction of the Pine Mountain Trail, take that out to Sunrise Hwy.,
Come back on the Pioneer Mail doubletrack, climb back up the Indian Creek and Noble trails and come
back on the Big Laguna Trail to the starting point. I don't know how many miles it is but this is fun ride
on 99% singletrack.
