Big Laguna Trail

Mount Laguna, California

Big Laguna Trail Professional Review and Guide

"From the first few footfalls into Laguna Meadow, the region has a majestic beauty superbly outlined by towering lodgepole and Coulter pines, which grow to prodigious heights in the basin. The valley hinges beneath an azure sky that resembles something out of the mountains of Montana rather than Southern California. Clouds float by as if painted on a postcard backdrop, and the lovely lakes lining the forest are a rare sight in these arid climes."

Great hike! There were lots of people there today on horse, bike and foot. Very pretty and great for kids.

My favorite trail in the Laguna Mountain Recreation Area; This is great for anyone who loves the outdoors. Very uncrowded (we went on Father's Day.) The meadow is a spectacular sight to see. Also good for children; there is a lot of wildlife to point out and learn about. Saw rabbits, ground squirrels, lots of deer tracks and ducks in the pound. It was a bit windy but not too cool. Take a wind breaker if you chill easily. I suggest using a good tick repellent bug spray as there is a lot of tall grass.
