"Follow the mellifluous stream of Hunting Hollow to dramatic single-track paths that ascend steep ridgelines to reach tranquil Redfern Pond, the largest in Coe’s southern backcountry."

"In the more recently opened, southwestern corner of Henry W. Coe State Park, this trip takes the backpacker up high, steep-sided ridges above tree-shaded canyons, and through remote grasslands dotted with oaks and punctuated by rocky outcrops. This area is heavily used by equestrians, as it has easy access for horse trailers, but its beauty deserves much wider acquaintance. Numerous small ponds are remnants of the cattle-grazing era, and this trip’s overnight destination to Redfern Pond is one of the park’s most attractive."

1 night overnight (07/02/10-07/03/10). Golden hills of oats. Live and blue oak. Creeks we all dry enough to cross w/o getting wet when we were there. Didn't see a soul on the trail until meeting two women on horses a quarter mile from the parking lot on the way back.
