Asilomar Professional Review and Guide

"This is a northwest-facing beach near Monterey. There are three main peaks at Asilomar, and at least one of them is usually breaking if there’s any type of swell. Roadsides is a right on the north end of the beach. Middles is a peak in the middle of the beach; Reef is a left on the south end. Asilomar State Beach is fairly exposed to northwest wind, which usually results in blown-out or poorly shaped midday surf.

Regardless of surf conditions, however, this break can get crowded on a sunny and warm weekend. On a weekend day in summer when the waves are small, you’ll see kids and longboarders all along the beach. And when the waves are bigger, a lot of shortboarders will line up outside."
