Things are a lot easier now. The private property referred to in the description is now public. Where the description says to go right at the gate, you can also continue past the gate to the ruins of the Hot Springs Resort; this walk is entirely on a road.

About half way to the resort there is a clear trail to the right. No sign yet, but the coordinates are N34.45801 W119.63792. This is a decent trail to Saddle Rock. Not really steep until the last 20 yards or so. When you come to a T junction Saddle Rock itself is just up a slight hill to the right.
