Forbush Flat Trail Professional Review and Guide
"Forbush Flat is an inverted hike. Dropping 1000 feet in elevation in 1.5 miles means the climb out will be fairly steep. Keep this in mind if taking this hike on a hot day. This hike is short enough not to be dangerous, but it can be very uncomfortable in the heat. The good thing is that the sun will drop below the crest and keep the trail in the shade during late afternoon. If it is too hot, stay awhile down in the Flat and hike back unexpected and surprisingly beautiful sylvan glen a couple of hundred feet below the trailhead. The secluded dale is encircled by pine trees and a trickling stream."
