McNee Ranch State Park and Montara State Beach Professional Review and Guide
"McNee Ranch State Park (625 acres), adjacent to Montara Beach State Park, Gray Whale Cove State Beach, and Montara Mountain, offers a hillside climb with views and two short walks to caramel-colored beaches with wild, seething surf. A stroll on the bluffs above the Cabrillo Highway with glorious Pacific views, the sound of tide and traffic fighting it out, takes you to historic McNee Ranch in the shade of Monterey cypress and Monterey pine trees. Then prepare to use those calves as you ascend up both moderate and strenuous grades to the top of Montara Mountain (1,898 feet). Dressing in layers is important to compensate for lots of direct sunlight and sudden cold fog. Bring plenty of water too, as there are virtually no facilities. This eTrail also includes suggested nearby attractions, camping & lodging, restaurants, and local outdoor retailers."
