Montara Mountain Trail Professional Reviews and Guides
"The hike to the top of Montara Mountain is a climb above the Pacific Coast along a dirt fire road. The easy access off CA 1 and the privilege of hiking on state park land combined with spectacular coastal views on a clear day make this steady two- hour cardio workout an exhilarating excursion for fit dogs and humans. The sign is recessed from the small parking area off the shoulder. There is a larger parking area just short of 8.0 miles on the west side of the highway. The trailhead is at the fire lane gate in the parking area on the east side of the highway. You will see a sign on the right of the gate indicating that dogs need to be on leash."
