Devils Bathtub Trail

Devils Bathtub Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"If the devil really did pick this lake for a bathtub, he obviously prefers scenery to such amenities as hot water and smooth porcelain. The bathtub picked out by the Devil has a necklace of granite boulders along a narrow band of trees, with the imposing wall of the Silver Divide and Graveyard Peak dominating the horizon."

Great hike from Vermilion Campground up to Devil's Bathtub. I would rate it as slightly moderate but can see how others may see it as moderately strenuous due to the altitude. Make sure to bring a map and do not trust your GPS (my GPS map had the trail way off but I also had a topo map and followed the trail). We only saw 1 other hiker on the way up and a small group heading onto the trail as we were leaving. Once up the trail you are treated with a spectacular view of the lake, one of the best I've ever seen.

This is a great hike! At the end, it is pretty steep, but it took us about 6 hours roundtrip including lunch. (We're not serious hikers.) Great place to camp too! It's a beautiful lake in a great setting.

Wonderful hike. One of the most beautiful lakes we've been to. Make sure you go the extra distance around the lake. Stay to the west side, boulder hoping for awhile then there is a trail to take you to the other side. Very good day hike. Long and slow drive to get to the trail head.
