Do not follow the map directions if you want to start at the actual trail head. Take Woods Lake Rd off of 88 past the trailhead parking lot until you reach the Woods Lake Campground parking lot. From the second parking lot on Woods Lake Rd the trail is about 2.5 miles out and back. We hiked in early June and hiked through mud and snow (at least 2 feet deep in some places. Beautiful hike, but I would suggest later in the summer when most of the snow has melted. Last portion of the hike has the steepest elevation climb to the lake.
