Olimpiada Mission Viejo

Olimpiada Mission Viejo Professional Review and Guide

"Olimpiada Mission Viejo retraces the route of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games cycling road races. Riding this route offers the rare opportunity to experience, and perhaps even relive, the legendary men’s and women’s races from the Games. The racers did multiple 9.8-mile laps, with the hills and heat wearing the competitors down.

While the official Olympic start-finish was at Applegate Park, on the north side of Lake Mission Viejo on Olympiad Road, this ride starts at Robert A. Curtis Park, which is also on Olympiad, but farther south. Robert A. Curtis was a Mission Viejo councilman who, shortly after being elected in 1988, was served with recall papers for supporting the annexation of Aegean Hills. Voters soundly defeated the recall. Curtis served out his term, and then opted to not run for reelection. From the park, head south on Olympiad Road."
