This remarkable little hike follows boardwalks around the steaming remains of Mount Tehama, a composite volcano whose remnants define the skyline of the southern reaches of Lassen Volcanic National Park. Because it is short, flat, and offers intimate encounters with the geothermal lifeblood of Lassen, this hike is immensely popular, suitable for hikers of all abilities, and often crowded. Interpretive signs describe the sites. Highlights: This interpretive trail illustrates the evolution and demise of a volcano, with an intense sulphurous smell adding to the ambiance.

This trail is currently closed. There are just a few roadside signs but the boardwalk has been torn down and the area is fenced off.
