Ridge Lakes

Ridge Lakes Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Despite its location next to the popular Sulphur Works, the trail to Ridge Lakes is lightly used due to a steep climb to the lakes that averages a 20 percent grade. Even though the trail is only a mile long, the 1000-foot climb, which forgoes switchbacks in favor of a direct route up the hillside, is more than enough to deter all but determined hikers in reasonable condition.

Those who tackle the ascent will appreciate the beautiful scenery around Ridge Lakes, a pair of high-altitude tarns surrounded by a scattered forest of red firs and mountain hemlocks in a rosy red cirque basin with volcanic slopes. A straightforward cross-country climb to the ridge crest above the lakes offers additional views."
