Mill Creek Falls

Mineral, California

Mill Creek Falls Professional Review and Guide

"Mill Creek Falls is a vigorous whitewater spill of nearly 100 feet. The spray from the falls darkens the cream- and gold-colored rock of the cliff over which it cascades, and the narrow gorge of East Sulphur Creek resonates with its splendid roar. The falls can be enjoyed from a shady overlook along the Mill Creek Falls Trail, or from a thrilling perch at the very brink of the falls, where the creek gathers itself into a frothy fury before taking the plunge. Highlights: A shaded overlook offers great views of the sharp spill of Mill Creek Falls."

This trail begins from the walkin campground near Lassen Chalet. It is an undulating trail, rarely level for any distance. The trail follows along the side of mountains through meadows of wildflowers and wooded areas until you reach Mill Creek Falls. The trail does continue to Crumbaugh Lake and Cold Boiling Lake if you want a longer hike. It is a pleasant hike that can be a little warm when the temperatures are high. I would consider this trail a moderately easy one. No major uphill climbs but plenty of little climbs.
