This breezy stroll loops around stunning Manzanita Lake at the northern entrance of Lassen Volcanic National Park. The placid waters and mountainous backdrop offer some of the better photographic opportunities in the park, with Lassen Peak poised perfectly above the brilliantly blue lake. The Manzanita Lake Trail is a popular little 1.8-mile route, but you can catch the lake nearly all to yourself if you arrive at dawn, when it’s just you and the pika.
