Juniper Lake Campground Professional Review and Guide
"Come to Lassen Volcanic National Park and camp at Juniper Lake Campground because it offers the least crowded camping, hiking, and fishing in the park. Juniper Lake, blue and deep, is by Lassen Peak, Mount Harkness, and Saddle Mountain. Up until recently, in geologic time, Juniper Lake was not even a lake. About 200,000 years ago, all that was here was a depression with hundreds of feet of ice cap and icy fingers heading down into Warner Valley. The area warmed up, and a stream ran through the basin. Nearby volcanic Mount Harkness hadn’t erupted, but when it did, it dammed up the south part of the basin, and—voilà!—Juniper Lake was born."
