Echo and Twin Lakes

Echo and Twin Lakes Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Summit Lake is both a popular campground and a departure point for hikers and backpackers bound for the central part of Lassen Volcanic National Park.

This popular trip visits dreamy Echo Lake, with its droopy-tipped mountain hemlocks and dark rocks ringing the shoreline, and the larger Twin Lakes, whose deep-blue surfaces act as mirrors for the thick forests surrounding their shorelines. At Echo Lake, which has more of a subalpine ambiance than the park’s average backcountry lake, overnight camping is not allowed, due to its proximity to the trailhead. However, camping is permitted at the Twin Lakes."
