The Grottos

Mecca, California

The Grottos Professional Review and Guide

"The Grottos are two slot canyons nestled in the outlandishly colorful Mecca Hills. They have filled with giant boulders to form remarkable cave systems. Two palm oases bring further wonder to this unusual trip. If your time is limited, you can shorten the trip by visiting only one of the Grottos. Be sure to bring a flashlight; a helmet is also helpful. The terrain is complicated and is crisscrossed with a warren of trails, so a map and good navigational skills are essential. The main trail is almost always well-used, so if the path becomes faint, you are probably on the wrong trail."
