Up Dragons Back to Seven Lakes Point

Up Dragons Back to Seven Lakes Point Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This exciting semi-loop climbs to a sheer volcanic ridge with spectacular vistas over the Mammoth Lakes basin. Despite the dubious condition of some stretches of trail, this route in the end proves to be one of the most unusual, panoramic, and enjoyable hikes in the region. Its appeal stems partly from the slippery lip of the Bottomless Pit, partly from the ticklish stretch of crumbling trail below the Dragons Back, and partly from the airy scramble up the Dragons Back itself, with views literally to die for. The rest of the trail, the bulk of it spent going up and down switchbacks, is mainly businesslike."

The trail was gorgeous. Pretty tough in a few places but the vista from 7 lakes point is worth every step. If you go on a good day, you might see some bighorn sheep in the area too-I was fortunate enough to see tracks and nothing more!
