Shepherd Hot Spring

Shepherd Hot Spring Professional Review and Guide

"Another fantastic tub created by the diversion of hot spring water into a small concrete pool. This spring is similar to others in the area, but requires driving on a rougher road. This is another fantastic place to soak, although not quite as secluded as the Hot Tub. The water is also quite a bit hotter, so you cannot stay in as long. Sheepherders built this tub quite a few years ago by diverting hot spring water through a plastic pipe into a cement and rock tub. The tub is about 6 by 5 feet and 2 feet deep. It can be emptied by removing a drain plug at the end and diverting the water. People generally keep it clean by replacing the water and scrubbing the sides with a brush. This spring has also been kept clean and free from trash—do your part to Primitive, except for the hot pool and the piping of water into it. You can lower the temperature by diverting water out of the tub and waiting for it to cool."
