James Hutchinson, Lincoln Hutchinson, and Charles A. Noble made the first ascent of Red and White Mountain in July of 1902. Their route up this colorful peak ascended the loose and exposed, knife-edged west ridge. In 1928, Norman Clyde climbed the northeast ridge from near McGee Pass. This route is steeper than the west ridge, but the rock is less shattered and offers a safer ascent.
