Convict Lake Loop Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Convict Lake is a mile-long, 138-foot-deep glacial lake nestled in a bowl, also known as a tarn, at the base of the moraine and probably the most dramatic high-country lake setting you will ever drive to."

First time to Convict Lake for me. Gorgeous Lake that day - incredible views of the surrounding mountains - a photographers dream. Detoured off the back side of Convict Lake up Convict Creek for about 4 miles before the water barred us from crossing that day - will definitely be doing this hike again later in the season all the way to Lake Genevieve. Fishing at Convict Lake was great that day, though, cast 5 times and caught 3 rainbow trout. Overall a great day!

A very easy, very little climbing, relaxing hike that surrounds Convict lake. A very popular stop for fishing. A very interesting boardwalk crosses the back end of the lake. You hike exposed to the sun 75% of the time so wear sunblock.
