Detailed Trail Descriptions from Our Guidebooks

Vicky Spring & Tom Kirkendall
"The grand view from the site of an old lookout is the objective of this scenic hike along the southeastern edge of the Ventana Wilderness. The only question is what peak the lookouts are standing on. Most maps call it Junipero Serra Peak. Signs along the trail point alternately to Serra Peak and Santa Lucia Peak. However, no matter what name you choose, the hike is excellent. Carry plenty of water for the long trek to the summit, and plan an early start to avoid the heat of the day." Read more
