Murietta Trail Professional Reviews and Guides
"Named for the infamous 19th-century Mexican bandit who is believed to have used the canyon as one of his many hideouts, this hike makes for an easy (and child- friendly) day trip. From the south side of Forest Road 5N13, this very easy hike ascends the lower reaches of Murietta Creek to Murietta Camp."
--Craig R. Carey, Hiking and Backpacking Santa Barbara and Ventura (Wilderness Press).
"This road travels 5 miles on the north side of Murietta Canyon from Matilija Creek to Murietta Divide. It is a good option for those not up to doing all of Cherry Canyon Road/ Ortega Trail."
