Islay Creek Trail

Los Osos, California

Islay Creek Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The Islay Creek Trail follows an old ranch road up the north side of Islay Canyon parallel to Islay Creek. The wide, level trail passes a waterfall to an old abandoned barn in the mountainous interior of the canyon."

A great bike trail to take children on. My two (10 & 6) don't ride very often and when they do it's usually in the backyard. I looked at this trail on Google Earth and saw the climb wasn't but 300 feet in 3 miles. We took two hours to complete it roundtrip. We saw a garter snake, small rabbits and a number of plain brown birds. As I knew there was a former dam in the creek I listened for the telltale sound of a waterfall and was not disappointed.
