This is a short and easy trail, offering unobstructed views of San Jose and the South Bay. It is a good trail to bird watch in a mix of a lot of Chaparral, a little bit of Oak/Manzanita/Bay woodland and some grassland. California Quail, California Thrasher and Wrentits are seen in the Chaparral. Meadowlarks, Fox Sparrows, Western Bluebirds and lots of Scrub Jays are also residents here. Raptors include Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, White-tailed Kite, Cooper's Hawks and occasional passing Eagles, both Golden and Bald. A new popular trail to Mt Umunhum begins here.
