Interstate 15 near Cajon Pass to Agua Dulce Professional Review and Guide

"True to its name, the Pacific Crest Trail through the San Gabriel Mountains remains on or close to the watershed dividing streams that flow into the Pacific Ocean from those that run north, losing themselves in the sand or evaporating from muddy playas in the Mojave Desert. The PCT climbs quickly from smoggy, arid Cajon Canyon to the subalpine reaches of the San Gabriel Mountains, and soon ascends its Southern California apex—wind-torn, 9399-foot Mount Baden–Powell. Most of the PCT’s winding route lies between these two extremes, treaded in pine-needle duff under groves of shading, hospitable Transition Zone forest trees: Jeffrey pine, incensecedar, black oak, sugar pine, white fir and water-loving white alder."
