Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve ’s 1580 acres lie along the west side of Skyline Boulevard for about 3 miles north from the Page Mill/Alpine Road inter- section through the Mt. Melville area and extend southwest into the deep canyons of Alpine and Mindego creeks. Trails run along the ridgetop parallel to Skyline Boulevard, surprising routes lead through beautiful wooded canyons and old ranch roads descend the west slopes. Spectacular views east to San Francisco Bay and the Diablo Range and west to the ocean over an expanse of ridges greet the visitor to Russian Ridge. Strong winds that bring clear skies can also carry dense fog, especially in summer. This trail guide includes the following trails: A Bay Area Ridge Trail Trip for Those Clear Days When You Can See Forever, Down to Mindego Creek and to the Slopes of Mindego Hill, Ancient Oaks Trail Loop.
