Palos Verdes Ocean Trails Reserve

Palos Verdes: Ocean Trails Reserve Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A network of easy to difficult ocean trails begins at a swank golf course and leads to remote rocky beaches and quiet benches with some of the best coastal views around. The trails draw a wide range of recreational users, from parents with jogging strollers to equestrians and runners in training who take advantage of the steep spurs down to the beach.

If you want to check out the glamorous clubhouse that comes with the golf course, there’s also free parking available at Trump National Golf Club at 1 Ocean Trails Dr. (call ahead
to make sure no special events are on tap). From La Rotonda, look for the reserve sign at the north end of the parking lot and follow the paved path past a modern restroom facility. The manicured path essentially cuts right through the golf course (but the golfer’s routes are clearly marked, so hikers don’t
wander onto the 13th hole)."

This isn't just one trail, but a series of trails ranging from easy to advanced, letting everyone from hikers to mtn bikers get a great workout. The hills can be brutal, but the views more than make up for it

This trail was badly scorched by recent brush fires. I suspect that by mid to late 2010, it will begin to become more green again. At the beginning of the trail, Del Cerro Park, there is a beautiful lookout spot. You can see Catalina Island from the lookout spot at the park. The trail begins at the opposite, street side of the park, by heading North down the road.
