Meysan Trail Professional Review and Guide
"While hundreds toil along the nearby Mount Whitney Trail, a relative few hike this neighboring path up the canyon of Meysan Creek to a string of attractive lakes east of the Sierra Crest. Once the typical hubbub of Whitney Portal is left behind, visitors experience quiet serenity on the ascent up Meysan Creek canyon to the end of the trail at Meysan Lake, a fine destination for lunch or for an overnight camp. From the official trailhead, follow singletrack trail on a steep climb up the hillside.
Fortunately, the steep grade is short-lived, as the trail soon merges with another section of road that leads past more summer homes to the resumption of trail. Having left the last vestiges of civilization behind, you embark on a more moderate climb that leads across a dry hillside dotted with firs, pinyon pines, Jeffrey pines, and mountain mahogany."
