Bradshaw Trail Professional Reviews and Guides

"The Bradshaw Trail closely follows William Bradshaw’s historic route that connected the rich mines at La Paz, Arizona, to San Bernardino, California. It also served as a trade route to and from the Colorado River. This trail travels from Palo Verde, on the Colorado River, to the shores of the Salton Sea, a large inland body of water. The road is graded along its length, and in dry weather is normally suitable for high-clearance 2WD vehicles. However, some sections of loose sand, particularly in Salt Creek near the western end of the trail, are better tackled with a 4WD. Passenger vehicles should not attempt the route west of the inter- section with Milpitas Wash Road at Wiley Well Campground. Special Attractions: Long historic route of William Bradshaw’s Trail; Rockhounding in the Chuckwalla Mountains; Mule Mountains Long-Term Visitor Area; Salton Sea. High-clearance vehicles are preferred, but not necessary. This trail is dirt roads, but may have rocks, grades, water crossings, or ruts that make clearance a concern in a normal passenger vehicle. The trail is fairly wide, so that passing is possible at almost any point along the trail. Mud is not a concern under normal weather conditions."
