Simply put, Emeric Lake is one of the best in the Sierra, not so low that it is ringed by trees and lacks views and not so high that it lacks trees that shelter you from occasional summer thunderstorms. Also, by being just off the High Sierra Camps Loop, the lake gets less use than if it were on it.
