Lyell Canyon

Lyell Canyon Professional Review and Guide

"Lyell Canyon offers a scenic, pastoral hike along a level portion of the John Muir Trail. The trail passes through beautiful subalpine meadows along the banks of the Lyell Fork of the Tuolumne River. The trail crosses the Dana Fork of the Tuolumne River and a double bridge built into smooth granite slabs over the Lyell Fork. There are pools and cascades at the double trip. Can be made into a longer hike, up to 15 miles, simply by continuing along the canyon and turning around when you desire."
