This popular hike to Glen Aulin is noted for the scenic pools, rapids, cascades, and falls it passes. Because the hike is virtually all downhill, it is ideal for hikers unaccustomed to high elevations. If you are hiking while the river is still swift, which usually is before mid-July, then it is worth your while to descend an additional 3.3 miles to Waterwheel Falls, the westernmost and most unique of the Tuolumne River’s five major cascades.
