Dechambeau Hot Springs

Dechambeau Hot Springs Professional Review and Guide

"A series of high-temperature hot springs feeding several ponds at a bird sanctuary near Mono Lake. Bathing opportunities are limited, but there is a lot of wildlife and several other, bathable springs in the vicinity. Too hot to be a bathable hot spring, Dechambeau offers ample scenery. The hot springs themselves have been dammed up in the past, although the pools have not survived. The springs were discovered accidentally while drilling for oil. The well itself still remains, fenced off to protect the public from its scalding water. The hot water feeds several ponds that are used by waterfowl. The ponds are too cold for bathing. Primitive, although a large well has been dug and several other changes made to promote the bird sanctuary."
