This was a beautiful area ... until the wildfires ravaged it - Per Calfire: "*** November 6, 2015 - Due to extreme damage from the Valley Fire, Boggs Mountain Demonstration Forest is closed to the public. All road and trail use as well as camping is closed due to the dangerous conditions that are present, as well as the salvage logging which will be occurring. We will update the public as conditions warrant. ***"

This is a special "secret spot". Seldom used , in my experience, with great single track. Even found a well done map at the info kiosk. My memories are of more challenging in the cardio arena verses mtn. bike skill set.

What a ride! Great singletrack with killer climbs, long downhills, and never too technical. Great for most any rider provided he/she is willing to put in a hard-days work. We stayed on the 12.6-mile loop from the book, but there is so much more to ride/explore. Detailed trail maps are available for $1 donation, and are very accurate. We started around 10AM on a very hot day. Bring plenty of water (I finished a 1L camelback). Although it was hot out 95+F, most of the trail is shaded, and we had a gentle breeze for most of the ride, so it was never unbearable. I would think spring/fall are the ideal times to do the ride, but I would do it in the heat any day. Definitely a top-10 Bay Area ride.
