Laguna Niguel Regional Park - Sulphur Creek Reservoir Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"During the mid-19th century, what is now parkland was part of Juan Avila’s Rancho Niguel. As the story goes, the conservative Senor Avila was referred to as El Rico (The Rich) and ran a much-admired old California-style rancho. The Laguna Niguel Corporation donated land for the nucleus of a county park in 1970 and the regional park opened three years later. The park, while including such amenities as an amphitheater, picnic areas that are both easy-to-access and more remote, volleyball courts and tennis courts, is also pedestrian friendly. Two pedestrian bridges over Sulphur Creek allow the hiker to circumnavigate the reservoir."
