This 6486-acre park, the keystone that ties Memorial and Sam McDonald parks together, encompasses seven miles of Pescadero Creek as it meanders through the canyon between Towne and Butano ridges. Joined by 19 intermittent streams that tumble down the steep sides of these ridges, Pescadero Creek forms the centerpiece of the park. More than 40 miles of trail reach its highest points, follow its creeks, and penetrate its great forests. When combined with the adjacent 3000 acres of Portola Redwoods State Park, this vast open space is premier country for long, strenuous hikes and horseback rides. This trail guide includes the following trails: A Short Walk to Pescadero Creek and Worley Flat, Brook Trail Loop, A Loop around the Tarwater Creek Basin, Butano Ridge Trail Loop.
