Shealor Lake Trail: Caples Creek Proposed Wilderness Professional Review and Guide

"The Shealor Lake Trail is easily accessible from Hwy 88 and it’s a relatively easy walk for less-experienced hikers and families with children (age 10 or older). The trail provides wildly contrasting alpine scenery, including the dark volcanic peaks in the nearby Mokelumne Wilderness and lighter-colored granite canyons of the Caples Creek Proposed Wilderness. Pretty Shealor Lake is a great destination for a picnic, or a swim, or to simply lie on a warm granite rock and look at the clouds. If you desire a bit more of a challenge, you can make your way cross-country from upper Shealor Lake down to lower Shealor Lake."

Great little hike. Took my 8 & 10 year olds. No problem. Beautiful little lake. Very nice for rookies like us. Lots of loose rock on the lake side.
